This spiced vanilla milk with honey recipe is the perfect way to start any day. Not only in the winter months but when you need that extra comforting hug of a warm drink. I am a creature of habit. I love my routine. Especially when it comes on to breakfast. I eat the same thing most mornings. I really don’t like change in the morning. I call it the calm before the storm. So I try to keep it simple. I usually have this warm spiced vanilla milk with honey along with some toast. This is my true homebody self. I love quite mornings. I love dunking my toast in my milk. Can you still hang with me?
Ever since I was a child my grandmother would make this for me. She would make a whole song and dance of it. She would warm the milk add the spices. She was magical. The scent of warm honey and cinnamon mixed into semi-scalding milk is something that lives in my treasure box of my childhood.
So when I was pregnant with Jonathan I knew that I wanted to be just like my grandma. A magician. But being a mom is different that what you imagined before you have children. You live in a space of doubt, wishful thinking and prayer-that you don’t completely suck at being a mom.
One day Jonathan came home from a stressful day of being a 2nd grader. He needed hugs. He needed cookies. He asked for my warm milk. I made the milk. I could see joy raising to the top. It made me happy. I’ve found that motherhood’s filled with moments like those- where your kids tune out the noise and open up over a simple cup of warm milk.
I later released that the joy I felt when my grandmother would make this spiced vanilla milk with honey had transferred to my children. And soI hope that a simple recipe like this one can bring as much joy to your family as it does in mine.
XOXO,
Ann

What a gorgeous post. My grandma died a few years back and I find that her old ways are my new ways. Will try this soon.
